Taverna Costera® is the flagship full-service fine casual dining experience. Coastal Mediterranean fusion is the theme, drawing inspiration from coastal Spanish, Italian, Spanish, and Greek cuisines and beyond – there are, after all, 21 countries around the Mediterranean Sea – in building a unique menu with fresh ingredients that naturally benefit from the built-in healthy eating habits of traditional Mediterranean diets.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the health benefits of the Mediterranean diets have been observed since at least the 1960s, with the “Mediterranean Diet” has become generally associated with reduced risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease; weight loss; heart and brain health; and diabetes prevention and control. In fact, the Mediterranean Diet was ranked the #1 Best Overall Diet by U.S. News & World Report for 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well as the #1 plant-based diet; #1 heart-healthy diet; #1 best diabetes diet; #1 best diet for healthy eating; and #1 easiest to follow the diet for 2021.

There is not a singular Mediterranean Diet, but rather a pattern of commonalities in the diets of the peoples who inhabit the countries along the Mediterranean Sea.

At its core, the Mediterranean Diet is a plant-based diet that calls for moderate amounts of fish, dairy, and poultry, as well as a light dose of red meat. A little red wine in moderation is also encouraged in the Mediterranean Diet.

Start off with our shrimp mango ceviche and surprisingly vegan arancini. Bask in a More Rockin’ (Moroccan, get it?) Tagine, vegetable stew with Israeli couscous, served in a beautiful blue tagine with our grilled pita chips. Take in our Fish en Papillote, served in a paper purse that keeps the steam in and the juices flowing, or go for La Femme en Papillote for a vegan presentation of the same, featuring a locally-sourced pink oyster mushroom. Ask about our Lamb Cevapi Gyro Bites, a twist on a classic Serbian meat dish presented in miniature Greek format.
